OUR TERRITORY

THE MEDITERRANEAN
AMONG THE ALPS

Pratello lies on the moraine hills of the D’Annunzio shore of Lake Garda; an area distinguished by a unique microclimate, mitigated by Italy’s largest lake. These characteristics make our area the northernmost point where you can breathe in the scents and experience the authentic flavors of the Mediterranean.

A land created to teach people to enjoy the good things in life.

LUGANA DOC

The Lugana DOC area on the south bank of Lake Garda. The soil, clearly of glacial origin formed by the descent of ice down to the valley, is composed of stratified clays of morainic and sedimentary origins, rich in mineral salts.

If in the strip near the lake the soil is mostly clayey, in the more hilly part of the DOC area, on the other hand, the clays merge into bands of moraine, creating the characteristic and so-called “leopard’s spot” conformation.

It is not an easy soil to work: very compact and hard in times of drought, it becomes soft and muddy after rain. These chemical and physical characteristics give to Turbiana grape variety, that belongs to Trebbiano family, complex aromas, acidity and flavor, the unmistakable stamp of our territory.

VALTENESI DOC

Valtènesi lies on Brescia side of Lake Garda. The hilly terrain of morainic origin formed by melting glaciers is predominantly pebbly with a high concentration of active limestone. Facing the sunrise, Valtènesi has cool nights, light breezes and sunny mornings. A gentle climate that gives our wines finesse and saltiness. Here the native Groppello grape variety, a fragile and precious enological rarity as a very delicate raw material, has found its ideal habitat, making Valtènesi a unique place where elegant, mineral, warm and, at the same time, light wines are born.

S.MARTINO DELLA BATTAGLIA DOC

In the small enclave on the south bank of Lake Garda, characterized by a clay soil rich in mineral salts, the distinctive Tuchì grape is produced. The name comes from a comparison made by an Austro-Hungarian emperor with Tokaji wine, produced on his lands. Local growers of the time abandoned other grape varieties to concentrate on producing what has since then been called Tuchì. This word means “pleasant to the touch,” “small thing,” perfectly describing the small size of both the grape and the bunch. A vine that has been present in Lake Garda area for more than a century, its 80-plus-year-old vines yield a wine with golden hues, silky, saline; crisp when young and pulpy over time.

GARDA DOC

Garda Doc area is the largest appellation on Lake Garda and embraces the provinces of Brescia, Mantua and Verona. The area is characterized by morainic hills that give way to a pebbly soil very rich in limestone. The grape varieties that grow in the area are different, but they are all characterized by the unmistakable stamp of Garda area: salinity. Our company grows: Riesling, Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Rebo and Merlot. The great variety of grape varieties means that, within this area, different types of wine can be created with aromas and flavors that are as similar as they are different. This is a characteristic that makes the Garda Doc area unique and allows it to satisfy even the most demanding palates.
